West Virginia Removed from UHL (January 2005)

ACHA Division Two Commissioner Mike Radakovich recently ruled that West Virginia Division Two would be suspended from games and practices. This ruling was in response to WVU D2's lack of compliance with ACHA policies, specifically those regarding academic verification for players and USA Hockey insurance forms. Included as part of the suspension was the cancellation, by the ACHA, of all remaining WVU D2 games, including those with UHL members.

As a result of this ruling, the members of the University Hockey League have voted unanimously to terminate West Virginia's membership based on the ACHA's ruling and more specifically for violation of UHL By-Laws II.A.1-2 and II.D. The termination is hereby rendered in accordance with UHL By-Laws II.C.1-3.

Further, this suspension results in a slight change to the UHL playoffs. Seeds 4 and 5 will play on Fri. Feb. 25th at 8 pm. On Saturday, Seed 1 will play the winner of Friday's game. Seeds 2 and 3 will play in the late game on Saturday.

UHL Playoff Schedule Announced (June 2004)

If the game is still tied, then 20 minute 3 on 3 sudden death overtime periods will be played until one team wins.
