Cofounded by Pittsburgh (DII), Penn State (DII),
Indiana University of PA (DII), and West Virginia (DII) in 1998, the
University Hockey League provides a competitive league for teams
in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina in the
American Collegiate Hockey Association's
Division II.
Liberty Wins UHL Championship (February 2006)
Liberty University won the UHL Championship in a dramatic 5-4 victory over IUP. The championship is the second in a row for Liberty.
Four UHL Teams Selected for Nationals (February 2006)
The UHL sent four of its member teams to the ACHA National Tournament. By virtue of their #2 ranking in the Southeast Region, IUP was
given a bye to the National Tournament finals in Rochester, NY. Member teams Liberty (#5), NC State (#6), and Pitt (#10) were selected for the
Southeast Regional. Liberty beat #8 Penn and #4 Ohio State and will be joining IUP in the ACHA Finals. NC State beat #7 Princeton, but lost to
#3 Indiana and was not able to secure a berth at the Finals. Pitt lost to Indiana in the first round, but beat Princeton in the second round.
